Favorite type of terrain to ride

I’m a true lover of snowmobiling, so it’s difficult to give a straight answer. Riding an old growth tree zone on the Coast Mountains is very hard to beat!

What’s your “regular” job?

My primary income and full-time career is with Seaspan Marine within their operations department. Seaspan Marine provides services in all areas of nautical transportation with our river, harbor, coastal tugboats, and barges.

Interests and hobbies outside of snowmobiling

Dirt bikes, camping and exploring anywhere outside keeps me going during the “non-winter” months. I also have an obsessive ongoing restoration truck project. It’s a 1988 Power Ram ½ ton 4x4 pick-up. I’ve had it for 23 years and it holds a sentimental value greater than words.

What does That Ski-Doo Feeling mean to you?

When I was a pre-teen in the mid 90’s, my father and uncles all got into mountain snowmobiles. Some bought Arctic Cats, some bought Yamaha’s, some Polaris and some bought Ski-Doo. It was a very cool decade when the “big 4” OEM’s were racing forward every year with progression. Regardless of brand or where we rode, we never just went snowmobiling. We always went “Ski-Doo’n.” It didn’t matter what brand; we were always going “Ski-Doo’n”!

That Ski-Doo feeling extends to the vast history and origin of snowmobiles. For me, sharing the pure natural bliss accompanied with a sense of adrenaline and adventure with every snowmobile rider on earth. Now that’s a Ski-Doo feeling.

Favorite Ski-Doo model of all time

Hands down the 2021 Summit X 154” Turbo. Precision power delivery, deliberate throttle comfort, effortless control, safe and reliable, conqueror of mountain terrain, and did I mention it came with warranty!

How long have you been riding snowmobiles?

We got our first sled on the farm when I was 8. At 18 I stopped riding cold turkey for nearly a decade. I started again in 2010 and haven’t looked back since.

What’s the most fun you’ve ever had on a sled?

As an adult I’ve experienced so many truly incredible memories on Ski-Doo snowmobiles all over the world. I could never identify just one.

The most fun goes back to being a kid at Grandma and Grandpa McNolty’s on Christmas Eve. Three, four and sometimes five of my cousins would pile on my grandfather’s 540 Skandic Ski-Doo and ride around the property for hours laughing, screaming, and playing in the snow!

My most embarrassing moment on a sled is…

Moments like:
Showing up to the parking lot without the key to the super clamps.
Realizing the sled key is hanging on the one piece you left in the dry room that morning.
Pulling out your helmet to remember the liner is sitting in the laundry basket at home.
I cannot confirm or deny being part of such embarrassing moments lol.

What motivates you to be an Ambassador?

When I decided to get back into snowmobiling, I didn’t know what brand to buy. I was a consumer and did months of research. I chose Ski-Doo for all of the reasons that are product-based. Reliability, technology, warranty, dealer network, customer support, looks. I considered everything ahead of my purchase.

For me, snowmobiling isn’t about doing gnarly things and becoming a top rider. I enjoy all aspects of snowmobiling, from being in the mountains, spending time with friends and family, doing flips and drops, chatting with every person I can, even sitting in my garage working on my sled and learning about it. I’ve always said that the way I enjoy snowmobiling is the same way as you. Safety is my number one priority when riding. Especially when executing what I do. An equally important half of the equation is believing in the safety of my snowmobile as much as myself.

I have been happily educating and offering my knowledge and my love for the Ski-Doo brand since I bought my very first one. It’s now eleven years later and I have the chance to share to a much larger audience about a brand that I simply believe in. A brand that has helped me achieve all of my goals as a rider, before ever being considered an ambassador.

My guilty pleasure is…

Eating Carbs. Why do carbs always taste so good!?

One must-have item or accessory for every ride?

The correct answer is having enough provisions to safely survive a night in the backcountry. The fun answer is LinQ brackets and a beautifully double stacked set of skidoo fuel totes!

What’s your favorite meal on a sled (trail stop, muff pot recipe, etc.)?

A loaded burrito from the Brackendale Bean flattened and cooked to perfection against the stock exhaust and the side panel creating a wonderful panini press!

Current SHV (Sled Hauling Vehicle)

2008 Dodge 3500 Cummins Diesel 6.7 Manual with a Marlon Explore Pro II Snowmobile Deck.

Favorite pro sports team

I’ve never had one, but I really loved the movie Mighty Ducks. Does that count?

Favorite season

Winter, with fall being a very close second.

Favorite food

Any type of French Fry with copious amounts of ketchup.

Dream travel destination

I feel very grateful to have seen as much of the world as I have. Ireland is next on my list of places I wish to see.
